TallFeathers 2-Day Workshop

Making 11 foot feathers starts with a cermemony lead by an Indigenous Elder.  Commencing with prayers and a smudging the Elder shares some stories about feathers and word to inspire the participants.   Artist faciliators guide the participants through the process of making a feather using the laser cut panels and themed characters. The workshop concludes with a cermony raising the feathers togehter and sharing of experiences.

The four teachings of the Blackfoot tradition—sharing, caring, respect, and honesty—serve as the guiding themes for our workshops. Through engaging with vibrant paper board pieces, participants embark on a journey of self-expression, discovering how to symbolically narrate their own unique stories. The process of creating feathers not only sparks meaningful conversations but also nurtures an atmosphere of sharing and respect.
